НАСА выпустит духи с «ароматом космоса». Изначально запах нужен был для тренировок астронавтов перед миссиями, однако позже его решили сделать доступным для всех желающих.
Автором духов стал Стив Пирс — химик и глава компании, занимающийся созданием натуральных ароматизаторов. Исследователь начал сотрудничать с НАСА в 2008 году — например, он создал запах внутреннего пространства станции «Мир».
Деньги на создание духов он собирает на краудфандинговой платформе Kickstarter — ему удалось уже собрать 300 тыс. долларов. После окончания кампании, он обещает выпустить аромат «Eau de Space» в свободную продажу по доступной цене.
В рекламном видео астронавты более подробно обсуждают уникальный запах космоса. При создании аромата Пирс основывался на этих рассказах и воспоминаниях астронавтов, которые описывали запах космоса как «смесь горячего металла, озона и жареного стейка».
Изначально эти духи должны были помочь астронавтам во время тренировок, когда они адаптируются к космическому пространству до запуска. Однако позже в НАСА решили сделать его доступным для всех и запустили краудфандинг на реализацию проекта.
«Благодаря решимости, выдержке, удаче и Закону о свободе информации (FOIA) мы разработали этот запах, — говорится на странице проекта. — Чтобы его могли получить большее количество людей, компания сотрудничает с лучшими парфюмерами и специалистами в области моды, техники, дизайна».
Изначально на проект требовалось 2 тыс. долларов, однако исследователи уже собрали более 300 тыс. долларов. Первая партия парфюма появится в октябре — сначала ее доставят тем, кто оформит предзаказ. НАСА уже планирует выпустить еще один парфюм — с «лунным ароматом».

Американское космическое агентство запустило на краудфандинговой платформе Kickstarter кампанию по сбору средств на духи Eau de Space.
Как пишет CNN, ещё в 2008 году в NASA заключили контракт с химиком и основателем Omega Ingredients Стивом Пирсом, чтобы он воплотил в реальность «запах космоса». Для этого он должен был ориентироваться на воспоминаниях астронавтов, которым удавалось выходить в открытый космос. Целью NASA являлось полное моделирование Космоса во время тренировок, для устранения любых неожиданностей, которые астронавты могут в будущем испытать.

Астронавты описывали запах космоса как смесь озона, жареного мяса, пороха, малины и даже рома. Именно этот аромат в агентстве начали использовать при подготовке к космическим миссиям в рамках моделирования космического пространства. Получившийся аромат позволяет астронавтам привыкнуть к специфическому запаху на орбите.
«Это похоже на то, как пахнет пистолет сразу после выстрела, — сказала бывший командир Международной космической станции Пегги Уитсон в интервью CNN в 2002 году. — Я думаю, он дымный, горелый и немного горький».
На краудфандинговой платформе планировалось собрать всего 1969 долларов. На момент написания статьи, уже собрано 313 693 доллара. И с каждой минутой цифра растет 😅
Первая партия духов будет доступна для тех, кто уже оформил предзаказ на Eau de Space. По уверениям журналистов, в следующем году в NASA представят второй парфюм, который будет называться Smell of the Moon.

Также к проекту были привлечены эксперты из мира моды, технологий, дизайна и логистики. Если парфюм будет пользоваться спросом, то в будущем NASA обещает выпустить больше подобных продуктов.
Стоимость одной бутылочки с запахом космоса для личного потребления составляет 29 долларов. Однако NASA хочет оценить спрос на такой парфюм, поэтому заказы принимаются через краудфандинговую площадку Kickstarter. При начальной цели в чуть менее 2000 долларов на момент написания новости было собрано практически 300 тысяч. Рассылка должна начаться в октябре этого года.

It has a head of metal and tires/rubber, then a middle of sweet ammonia-like and ozone scents, and lastly, a base note of bitter almonds or burnt sweet almond. I haven’t sprayed it on myself yet but I have used it in my home as an air freshener. It really adds a different effect than typical essential oils. An industrial clean scent. I like it!
